Insurance Cover for my Truck
How you are carrying your goods determine what Truck insurance cover you will require:
Carriage of Own Goods Insurance - for the carriage of your business goods only and a typical example is a Scaffolder or Groundworker. Haulage Insurance
(Carriage of Goods For Hire and Reward) - you will require this cover if you are charging to deliver someone else's goods. Truck Insurance follows the
traditional types of cover of Comprehensive, Third Party Fire and Theft and Third Party Only. Comprehensive and Third Party Fire and Theft policies
will carry an excess - the first part of any insurance claim which you are responsible for. Typically the excess is £500. Cover can be arranged for all
types of policyholders which includes sole proprietors, partnerships, limited companies, charities and other organisations.
My Truck Insurance Policy - Who Can Drive?
Just like all types of motor insurance any request can be made on your Truck Vehicle insurance; Insured Only - specifying named drivers, or Any Driver
Over 25 years of age. The norm is that all drivers are over the age of 25 however we are able to quote for younger drivers if required. Normally a Full UK
driving licence is required for a minimum of 2 years for that particular class of Truck, however we are able to quote for drivers with EU licence, International
licences and can also on occasion cover drivers who have held a licence for less than 2 years.
I've had a Truck Insurance Policy for many years - How can I reduce my Truck insurance premium
We have been active in the Truck Insurance market for more than 25 years. There are many schemes with insurers and brokers that will give no more than 40% No
Claims Discount if you have more than 5 years claim free insurance. We have negotiated schemes with many large insurers who offer No Claims Discount entitlement of up to 60%.
We constantly perform products reviews to ensure that we remain competitive in the market.
I am starting a Haulage business - how can I get a a great deal on my Truck Insurance?
We understand that a huge expense when starting your haulage business will be your Haulage insurance. Earned no claims discount is usually a large factor of
consideration with Truck insurance companies. We do not believe in penalising an experienced Truck driver without there own No Claims Discount. To this end, we have negotiated
huge introductory discounts from many of our insurance partners and are able to pass these incredible discounts onto our customers.
For example:
- we can give an Introductory No Claims Discount if you are an experienced Truck driver
- we can give an Introductory No Claims Discount if you have another Truck being insured elsewhere
- we can give an Introductory No Claims Discount if you have experience driving for a previous employer
I may need to deliver goods into Europe?
UK Truck Insurance is the standard policy. However it is becoming more regular that foreign use insurance is required. Temporary foreign use insurance to
European countries can be easily issued with a Green card extension. If very regular foreign use travel occurs then we can easily provide Annual cover for
European Truck insurance by issuing an Annual Green Card.
I'm expanding my business and am increasing the Trucks in my fleet
We are a specialist Truck Insurance Broker and have access to many Haulage Insurance and Fleet Insurance markets. Our typical Truck insurance schemes are
designed for policyholders with up to 4 vehicles. If you have more then we may be able to offer you a Fleet policy at even lower rates.
What types of Commercial Truck Insurance policyholders are there?
The majority of Truck Insurance policyholders are Haulage Contractors with policy terms of Carriage of Goods for Hire and Reward, additionaly there are
Furniture Removers. There are also many types of Own Goods Operators options, e.g. Landscapers and Landscape Gardeners, Scaffolders and Groundworkers. Obtaining
Competitive quotes for Skip Insurance can be difficult, as a specialist in this area however, Avis is able to offer competitive premiums for both Skip Truck and Skip
Liability Insurance (should you leave your skips on the public highway).
Will I need anything else?
Goods in Transit Insurance is usually a necessity for all policyholders. We have arrangements with large insurance companies and can offer all types of Goods
In Transit Insurance, e.g. Goods In Transit All Risks cover up to any specified amount, GIT Insurance with RHA conditions of carriage, or CMR cover
for all types of goods. We can offer this for individual Trucks and also multiple vehicles. UK and EU use can also be offered. We have no restriction on
types of goods carried and can include Insurance for Furniture Removers.
Public Liability Insurance and Employers Liability Insurance should also be considered and can often be included with a Goods-in-Transit policy.
